Scroll of Babble 2014
Text photocopies, canvas on board.
66.75 x 16.6 x 2 inches.
Made from scores of thin strips of text taken from a lengthy article on the human eye in The International Cyclopedia, A Compendium of Human Knowledge, published in 1893. The original text was reproduced slightly enlarged in white font on a black field and then carefully cut into 1/4 inch vertical strips. The strips were then randomly glued one at a time to a long sheet of heavy paper to form a continuous band or scroll of jumbled word fragments.
